December 29, 1932 - April 09, 2022
Robert "Bob" aka "Buffalo" Curtis Strauss transitioned peacefully from this life, to the next on April 10, 2022 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles. Robert was born to his parents, Edward and Evelyn (Curtis) on Thursday, December 29, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York. Spending his formative years on the east coast, Robert completed high school in New York and then entered the Navy, faithfully serving his country during its time of need. Subsequent to his military service, Bob enrolled at the University of California, Los Angeles and studied engineering. It wasn't long after that he moved to Whittier with his former wife, Karin, in 1966 and then began his professional career with Pacific Scientific. He rose the ranks and ultimately achieved the title of district Sales Manager, before co-founding his own company Furnace Finders Inc. He enjoyed his work in metallurgical consulting so much that he continued to operate his company HT Quench Services up until his passing. In November, 1986 he was married to his beloved Cathy Eugenia Rutan Strauss in Whittier, California.
Bob was an active member in the community, being a longtime member of the Friendly Hills Country Club and Whittier Elks Lodge. Outside of work and his community involvements, Bob loved swinging a golf club or tennis racket any chance he could. He was also the consummate entertainer; loving to host parties, cook for others and travel with family and friends. Bob made many trips to Las Vegas where he was often lucky playing craps, roulette, or betting on the horses at whichever race track they were running. If you spent time with Buffalo, you've shared a laugh, shared a drink, and made a shared memory. He is survived by his sister Carol Olson, children, Gregory (Tammy) Strauss, Robin Lamoure, and grandsons, Spencer and Ryan Lamoure. A celebration of life gathering is being planned for Sunday May 22nd at the Elks Lodge in Whittier.
