Alfred Stoll

May 18, 1925 — June 21, 2025

Longtime Whittier resident, Al Stoll passed away at home while under hospice care on May 21, 2025, having just celebrated his 100th birthday 3 days earlier. He was born in Norwalk, CA on May 18, 1925, and attended Whittier High School, served in the Navy during WWII and graduated from Whittier College before settling down in East Whittier after his marriage to Barbara Connelly in 1950. Sadly, Barbara (Bobbie) preceded him in death in December 2001.

Al was active in many charitable and local organizations over the years: serving as President of the Kiwanis Club & Whittier College Alumni Assn., Senior Warden at St. Matthias Episcopal Church and Chairman of the Scholarship Fund for the Whittier Host Lions Club. He was the pillar of the Stoll family after his father's death; acting as legal guardian to 3 relatives who had lost their parents after a car accident, aiding and advising elderly uncles and their wives, acting as financial advisor and emotional support for his widowed mother until her death in 1988 in addition to being a great father to 3 children; Richard, Susan and Robert.

Grandchildren Dash and Daniel, great-grandchildren Brock, Archer and Cooper, grand daughter-in-law Erin, daughter-in-law Nancy and son-in-law Hans all have been enriched through their relationship with Al.

Private Memorial Services will be held at St. Matthias Episcopal Church on June 21, 2025. In lieu of flowers, his family requests memorial donations be made to the Whittier Host Lions Club Scholarship Fund.
