Ernestina "Christina" Escamilla

November 7, 1959 — October 18, 2021

Ernestina "Christina" Escamilla, 61, passed away in Whittier, CA on October 18, 2021. Born on November 7, 1959, Christina was born in Moroleón, Guanajuato, MX to her parents Esteban & Josefina (Martinez) Garcia. She was married to Pedro Escamilla on January 31, 1976 and together they had five children. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.

At the age of seven, Christina came to America with her family and lived in Chicago, IL. She spent her early years growing up there. At the age of 14, she met the man that she would spend the rest of her life with, Pedro Escamilla. They were married in the Roman Catholic Church on January 31, 1976. After being married to Pedro, they moved back to Mexico for 15 years before returning to American where they settled in California in the Whittier area. Christina had many interests in life - particularly dancing, watching scary movies and cooking for her family. She was also known to love eating out at restaurants where she could enjoy a nice steak. She worked many different jobs, including as a cashier at a pharmacy and a daycare assistant, but her primary vocation was as a homemaker for her family. Her family was her life. Anything she could do to involve her family in being together made her life special and worth living. She was a loving wife, a thoughtful mother and a very special grandmother to her grandkids. She was also a woman of deep religious conviction. She was a faithful member of the Roman Catholic Church where she also participated in the Guadalupanos Society (an international organization dedicated to the spiritual well-being of both men and women of all nationalities and cultures). She was a woman of deep faith and her story will forever leave an impact on her family and this world.

She is survived by her husband, Pedro; her five children and their spouses, Pedro Jr., Edgar, Ivan, Griselda & Josefina; her nine grandchildren (including one on the way), and her seven sisters and two brothers. She is also survived by countless friends and acquaintances that she was connected to over her years of life.
