Bertha Cadena

May 30, 1926 — February 24, 2021

Bertha Cadena was born to Marguerita and Alfredo Perez on May 30th, 1926. She spent her early years in Los Angeles and eventually graduated from Santa Barbara High School. After graduating from high school she continued working with her father at the Osuna market. She married Ruben Hernandez on August 11, 1946 and moved back to Los Angeles. There they raised three children and were together for 22 years.
In 1971, Bertha went to work for the U.S. Postal Service in the city of Commerce. There she met Placido 'Phil' Cadena. The two were married on September 4, 1974 until his passing in February 2003.
Bertha loved to dance, play piano, travel, go to the beach, listen to mariachi music, and read mystery novels. Most of all she loved spending time with family and friends. Bertha loved to pray to our blessed mother, she said it filled her spirit and her heart with love.
Bertha is survived by three children; Ruben Hernandez, Rebecca and her husband Wally Puente, and Robert J. Hernandez. As well as grandchild Ruben Hernandez II and his wife, Bernice, their children, Ruben IV and Monique, and two great-great grandchildren, Ruben and Aaliyah Hernandez.
