Esperanza Cuevas

August 4, 1939 — November 4, 2020

Esperanza Cuevas was born August 4, 1939, in Jalisco, Mexico, to Hipolito and Micaela Gonzalez. Esperanza resided for the last decade of her life in the city of Pico Rivera when the Lord called her home on November 4, 2020 at the age of 81.

Esperanza was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She married the love of her life, Maximino, in 1959 in Mexico where they had their three eldest children. Esperanza was a devoted wife and in order to provide a better future for their family, they immigrated to the U.S. and settled in Los Angeles, California where they later had their youngest son.

Esperanza truly loved life and enjoyed the simple things that life had to offer. In her late years, Esperanza took pleasure tending to her yard doing such things as watering, pruning her plants and trees, and picking citrus fruits.

Esperanza spent countless hours enjoying the company of her loving husband on the yard swing, many times until sunset. Esperanza and her husband Maximino were an inseparable couple that made quality time out of simple time by taking pleasure in each other's company in a way that is only seen in classical movies.

Esperanza's pride and joy were her six grandchildren. Her love for her grandchildren was always evident when she shared stories to people about them. As she shared stories, a tender smile formed across her face. At her age, Esperanza enjoyed playing ball with her grandchildren and chasing after them. She would play anything that would bring joy and laughter to the kids.

Esperanza's love for life extended to, not only for her family, but also for her best friends, neighbors, strangers, and even for stray animals. Esperanza had so much love in her heart that she was willing to spread some of that love to anyone who was willing to open up their heart to receive it. Her love was like a warm embrace that brought warmth to the heart and soul.

The love that Esperanza had, culminated from her deep love for God. She loved reading the bible on a daily basis and enjoyed watching bible based movies and documentaries. Esperanza shared her love for God to all her children and the importance of God as the basis for strong family values.

Esperanza is survived by her husband, Maximino of 61years of marriage; by her children Maximino Jr. Gabriel, Juan, and Olga; including six loving grandchildren. She will forever be remembered for her tender and loving hugs and her unconditional love.

Esperanza has earned her wings and was met at Heaven's Gate by her parents: Hipolito and Micaela Gonzalez, and her siblings: Felipa, Aurora, and Manuel Gonzalez.
