Irma Montoya

May 1, 1952 — October 2, 2020

Irma Montoya died on October 2, 2020 after a long struggle with her health. She was 68 years old. Born on May 1, 1952, Irma was born in Jalisco, Mexico to her parents, Jesus & Longina Flores (both predeceased). Irma was one of nine children: Jaime, Olga (predeceased), Raul, Michael, Lonjina, Nancy, Mary, and Angie.

Irma is survived by her three children and six grandchildren. Her sons: Pierre (wife, Lisa), Brody (wife, Eva), and daughter Johonna, "Sparkles," (husband, Raul). All of whom she loved dearly and with unconditional love.

Irma was very active in serving her God, Jehovah for over 30 years until her health conditions made it challenging and it slowed her down. She dedicated her life to Jehovah and was baptized in the early 90's. She enjoyed going to meetings and seeing all the friends, singing songs of praise, and participating in the ministry. When she retired, she was thrilled to go out in the ministry during the week and getting to work with the different friends in the Santa Fe Springs congregation. Later in 2018, she joined the Montebello congregation, this where she continued her worship until her death.
Irma worked for the County of Los Angeles for 40 years, working in various departments throughout her career. She retired as a Child Support Officer with the Department of Child Support Services on May 22, 2014.

Irma suffered from diabetes, end stage renal failure, and suffered a stroke back in 2016 which left her partially paralyzed and in a wheelchair. That same year she started dialysis. Her life changed drastically that year. Though Irma's health continued to fail for many years, few people knew the extent to which she struggled. Her love for her God, Jehovah and the love for her family kept her pushing through the pain.

Before her health slowed her down, she loved to garden, travel, reading books, playing spider solitaire, going to concerts, and listening to music but her favorite was The Beatles. Irma was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, she loved to watch the Food Network channel during her spare time. She loved trying new recipes. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She cherished those moments when she was able to spend time with them. There were many movie nights at home with popcorn and there were many times she would barbeque, while watching them play in the pool all day. Many trips to the store to buy toys. Irma's love for her grandchildren was infinite.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
