Aletta Catherine Kuiphof, 87, passed away peacefully in La Habra on March 11, 2020 surrounded by family. Born in Long Beach on August 4, 1932, Aletta was born as one of three children to her parents, John Cornelius & Nell Marie (Hoogendam) Vanderham. Aletta was a devoted wife and mother, marrying George Kuiphof on November 25, 1952 and together with George having two children, James & Sharon. She will be missed deeply by her family and those who knew her, but is now at home with her LORD, Jesus Christ, in heaven.

Aletta grew up on her familys dairy farm in Norwalk. As a young girl she was accustomed to taking care of the homestead; tending to the household responsibilities and even driving the familys tractor. She attended school as she grew up, but only finished the 11th grade. While her schooling ended there, her education never stopped. For a season following her time in high school, Aletta continued helping out around the farm; that is, until she met a handsome young man named George at an ice-skating rink in Paramount one evening. George & Aletta were married soon thereafter, even though George was currently serving in the military when they were wed. Over the years, the two of them grew in their love for one another. Early on in their marriage, they would spend much time with Alettas extended family, namely her cousins who they were very close with. Aletta & George loved to travel together, visiting various destinations. They also enjoyed dancing together, although Aletta would comment on her husbands dancing skills saying, George isnt the best dancer, but I love dancing with him. The two of them loved their family very much and loved hosting times of fellowship at their home. For their children and grandchildren, probably the most impactful part of Alettas legacy was during the years where she cared for George during his bout with cancer. George and Aletta grew very close during that season and her unfailing love for him stands as a testimony of faithfulness for her family to see and praise.

There were many hobbies and interests that kept Aletta busy. She absolutely loved gardening. Many hours were spent in meditation and praise in her garden. She also had an affinity for her animals, specifically her cat, Mousy. Another love language of hers was baking for those who were important in her life. She could make a cake with more love in it than anyone else. And, of course, Alettas Dutch heritage was a huge source of pride within her heart. Nothing, however, matched Alettas love for her family; her children and grandchildren, and even her niece, Jennifer, always came first for her. Alettas life clearly demonstrated that it really is the simple things in life that make a profound impact.

Aletta is preceded in death by her husband, George (1987), as well as her brother, Nelson. She is survived by her children, Jim Kuiphof & Sherri Gotori; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and two siblings.

Aletta will be laid to rest at Rose Hills Memorial Park next to her husband, George.
