Myron Bromberg

December 26, 1935 — November 30, 2019

Myron Bromberg, 83, passed away in Whittier on November 30, 2019 surrounded by his children. Born on December 26, 1935 in Minneapolis, MN, Myron was born to Julius Ruben Bromberg and Bernice Blanche (Teply) Bromberg. He was married to LaRue Joyce Heine on December 19, 1959 in Hazen, ND, and together with LaRue, they had three children, Steve, Kerry & Beth. Myron leaves behind a legacy of hard work, devotion to his family that will never be forgotten.

Myron spent his youth growing up in Minneapolis. As a child, he was given the nickname Butch because he couldnt quite pronounce the word, boots. As innocent as this nickname was during his childhood, it captured the strong, masculine character that he epitomized throughout his life. When he was 17, his family moved from Minnesota to Whittier, CA. Myron graduated from Whittier High School in 1955 before joining the United States Army. It was during his service in the military at the Presidio in San Francisco, CA that he met his beautiful bride, LaRue. Knowing LaRue was the right woman for him, Myrons confidence and determination swung into full-gear and he proposed to her on their very first date, and every one after that until she said yes! His heart was forever devoted to the bride of his youth.

After being discharged from the military, Myron made Whittier his home for the rest of his life. Upon returning from active duty, he poured his focus into becoming a firefighter. He attended several colleges, including Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, CA, Rio Hondo College in Whittier, CA and Cerritos College. It should be mentioned that Butch was quite an accomplished wrestler. He began wrestling in high school, and further honed his skills in the military and college. In 1966, he joined the ranks of the Whittier Fire Department and eventually earned the rank of Firefighter Specialist, serving as an Engineer and later as a Fire Inspector. During his tenure with the Whittier Fire Department, his department merged with the Los Angeles County Fire Department and he saw new responsibilities opportunities open up for him. He spent the last 10 years of his career as a Camp Foreman, Deputy Fire Warden at Fire Camp 19 in the Angeles National Forest. This assignment was what any, rugged mans man would dream of doing for a living, especially for a man named Butch. Myron retired in 1997 from firefighting, but in spirit, he never fully hung up his boots from his life of adventure as a firefighter.

Myron lived a simple life. He knew the joy of spending time with his family, particularly enjoying outdoor experiences, like boating together at Trinity Lake in Northern CA. His profound love for his wife was something to behold. Unlike so many rugged men like him, he celebrated his love for LaRue and his family. This included taking his family on an Alaskan cruise for he and LaRues 50th wedding anniversary. This was an experience that he wanted to always be remembered by his family and made sure that all of his three children and five grandchildren joined them in this memorable celebration. It is challenging to fully quantify the weight of a mans life in the lives of those he cares aboutbut the one, indistinguishable fact about Myron Brombergs life is that he was a man of deep impact in the lives of all who knew him.

Myron will be reunited with his wife, LaRue, on what would have been their 60th Wedding Anniversary.
