Victor Manuel Valle was born to Pablo and Delfina (Perez) Valle on August 13, 1918, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.He passed away on October 30, 2011 at the age of 93.He is survived by his wife, Lilly; brother, Mario; son, Victor (Mary);and daughters, Lilly Hernandez (Luis) and Christina Duran (Arturo); 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceeded in death by his daughter Otila Quiroz (John).Victor was born and spent his early childhhod in Guadalajara, Mexico, with his parents, older sister and younger twin brothers. His family came to the Los Angeles area when he was seven years old, and settled for several years in Glendale. He completed elementary and junior high school while living in Glendale, and then went to work to help his widowed mother support the family. He became an apprentice and then master jeweler, and spent most of his working life as a jeweler. His family moved to Downey, where he met and eventually married Lilly R. Cobos. They were married on June 24, 1942. They settled in the Whittier area, where they raised a son and three daughters. While his family was young, he started his own jewelry company. Later he expanded the business and it became Valle Velasco Jewelers, which included his twin brothers, a brother-in-law, and other family members as partners. He and his wife served for many years on the Pioneer H.S. Parent Advisory Committee for the Expanded Horizons Program. With other parents, he worked to improve parent involvement in education and for improved access to and completion rates in post-secondary education. At age 60 he retired, but remained very active at home and in his church. With his wife, he traveled extensively in the U.S., Mexico and Europe. He enjoyed spending time with his extended family, with whom he often vacationed, went fishing, and shared his life story. He was passionate about music, enjoyed playing the piano, spent countless hours refurbishing classic cars, and always had time for his family.Victor loved music and was a largely self-taught pianist. he was an avid gardener and fisherman.He was an active member of St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, where he and his wife worked with other parishioners, Rev. Enrique Lopez, and Rev. Joseph Tobin in support of farmworkers, and on behalf of other social justice causes.Viewing will begin at 4pm on Monday, November 7, 2011 at White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 E. Philadelphia Street, Whittier, California, with a Vigil at 7pm.A funeral Mass for Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 8, 2011, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7215 Newlin Avenue, Whittier, California at 9:30am.Burial will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3888 Workman Mill Road, Whittier, California.
