Gabriel Reyes Pasillas

Gabriel Reyes Pasillas passed away peacefully on August 19, 2011. Born in Winslow, Arizona on March 18, 1921, Gabriel was born to Juan & Petra Pasillas. At a young age, he moved from Arizona to Los Nietos, California and eventually built his own home in Santa Fe Springs where he lived the rest of his life. On September 22, 1951, he was married to Asencion Flores at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Los Nietos and they had five children.Gabriel attended Los Nietos Elementary School; he was a 'Cardinal' at Whittier High School; and ended up joining the Army. He was an accomplished machinist and owned his own business. He was always very active in church activities including participating in the church choir at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Gabriel loved to play the guitar with his family and friends, and he always loved camping in Yosemite.He is survived by his wife, Asencion Pasillas; his children, Gabriel, Louise, Henry, Juanita and Ofelia; his sister, Lucy; 16 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his 5 brothers, Joe, Jess, Ralph, Manuel & Chon.Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at St. Bruno's Catholic Church in Whittier at 10:00AM. A viewing and rosary will be held on Monday evening, August 29, 2011 at St. Bruno's Church from 6:30PM - 8:30PM. Interment will immediately follow the mass on Tuesday at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
