Gina 'Jenny' Knoll was born Febraury 3, 1915 in New York City, New York to Paris and Giorgia (Pieretti)Domenici. She passed away April 1, 2011 in Fullerton, California.Jenny grew up and attended school in the San Fernando Valley of California. On June 1, 1935 she married Joseph Knoll in Los Angeles, California. They moved to Whittier in 1950 where they raised their daughters, Janet and Jo-Ann. Mrs. Knoll stayed home with her children until they were raised, and then she worked for several years with Whittier City Schools. Joseph passed away in 2007 after 72 wonderful years together.Sewing, needle craft, and photography were among Jenny's favorite hobbies. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, making weekend trips to the mountains and traveling. Jenny also enjoyed traveling to Italy with her sister to visit relatives.Jenny was a 60-year parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Whittier. She was also involved in the Senior Citizens Club, the Whittier Senior Citizens and the West Whittier Election Board.Mrs. Knoll is survived by her daughters, Janet (John) Nestegard and Jo-Ann (Robert) Heather; brothers, Gabriel and Salvatori Domenici; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Zita, Inez and Pauline; and brothers, Frank and John.Viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, April 8, 2011 at White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 E. Philadelphia St., Whittier, California. A service will immediately follow at 10:00 a.m. at White Emerson. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Montebello, California.
