In Loving Memory of:Hilda Marie KellyBorn: March 8, 1928Went to be with the Lord: June 19, 2010 Born at Seaside Hospital in Long Beach, California to Joseph and Mercedes Baglietto. Graduated from St. Anthony's High School in 1946 where she was a Songleader. It was there that she was named 'Big Sis' to AII-CIF and College All-American Football Player John Olszewski, also from St. Anthony's High School. She felt honored to be a part of this time in his life. Upon graduation from High School, she attended Long Beach City College and was an accomplished pianist and vocalist. Hilda was the Long Beach Women's Bowling Champion in 1952 and a long-time member of the Long Beach Mounted Police. It is during this time that she rode in many parades on her prize horse Chocolate Sundae. She was also a swimsuit model for Catalina Swimwear at the Pacific Coast Club in Long Beach. She was employed by the Main Branch of the Bank of America on Greenleaf Avenue in Whittier and worked for over 20 years as a Bank Teller for then-time manager Mr. Hubert Perry. She was a catcher on the Bank of America Women's Softball Team where she met her future husband (the Umpire) Don Kelly, a retired teacher and coach at Whittier High School. They were married in 1953. Hilda rode on the Bank of America float as a 'Sweater Girl' in the Uptown Whittier Annual Christmas Parade. She leaves behind her husband of 57 years, Don, her daughter's Karen Kelly-Dillenbeck (Randy), and Sharon Kelly Bowe (Rick) as well as her three loving grandchildren, Derek, Shannon and Garrett Bowe. Also included are her two step-grandchildren Carlos and Russell (Jerisha) Dillenbeck. Hilda helped with countless P. T .A. events at Mar Vista and Ocean View Elementary Schools, East Whittier Middle School and California High School and also supported the Women's Soccer Team at Rio Hondo College. She was the team mother to many, cheer mother to many and all-around 'Mom' to several of the kids that were coached by Don and who attended school with her girls. She loved every minute of every day being involved in so many activities. Hilda loved to dance, to sew and in her later years, she enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in their numerous activities; including, soccer and baseball, to name only a few. She was an avid sports fan, following the Angels and Lakers and was able to see her Lakers win another Championship which made her very happy. Hilda was such a caring heart and loving person who left countless memories behind for those who knew her. We will miss her so very much. Private family services will be held on Monday, June 28th at 11:00 a.m. under the direction of White-Emerson Mortuary, Whittier, California. Private Interment will take place immediately following at All Souls Cemetery, Long Beach, California.
