Marguerite Violet Jorgensen

November 9, 1916 — March 17, 2010

With family surrounding her, holding her hands, Marguerite Jorgensen, Marge to most, passed peacefully from this life and into the next on March 17, 2010. Her last days were filled with the most important things in her life: her family and friends.Marge was born Marguerite Violet Thompson, November 11, 1916, in St Louis, MO. She grew up in a household filled with laughter, and the joy within her has touched every person who ever crossed her path. At 18, she married her first husband Norman Coleman, moved the new family to Southern California and with him brought to the world the first of the two children: her daughter Patricia. With second husband Chris Jorgensen, the true love of her life, she gave birth to her son, Chris.During WWII, Marge was active with the USO at the Hollywood Canteen. She had a fulfilling career as a bridal buyer for Bullocks Department store. After retiring from there, she spent time as a volunteer for the Red Cross at the Long Beach Naval Hospital. She also gave her time to the Republican Women's Club in Whittier. In 1995, she was named the Whittier Republican Woman of the Year. Her many friends in the club, and throughout the community, sustained her through the deaths of her daughter Pat in 1989, her husband Chris in 1990, and brother Ed in 2004.She leaves behind her son Chris, and his children Jason and Caitlin, and Pat's children, Debbie, Mike and Kathleen. Also beautiful great grandchildren: Laura and Zachary, Debbie's children, and Cameron and Shannon, children of Mike and his wife Janet. Marge will be missed, and loved forever, by all. A service celebrating her life will be held at the White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 Philadelphia Street, Whittier, CA on Tuesday, March 23rd, at 10:30 in the morning. Following the service, Marge's remains will be interred with husband Chris in the National Cemetery at Riverside. Services at Riverside will be at 1:30 PM the same day.Donations in Marge's memory may be made to the ASPCA of Los Angeles.You may leave a condolence for the family by selecting 'Sign Guestbook' at the top of this page.
