Listen to Obituary

William Roy Jordan was born on June 16, 1941, in Charleston, Missouri, the third of thirteen children born to William Taylor Jordan and Beatrice Berryhill. From the very beginning, God’s hand was on his life. After graduating high school, he answered the call to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in April 1960. He served in Vietnam and often testified that the service “taught me how to be a man while I was still a young boy.” He retired honorably in June 1967.

In June 1969, he married his first wife, Shirley Ann Henry, and from that union came two daughters, Christina Marie Jordan and Dawn Sherrie Jordan.

As a young man searching for direction, he found himself drawn to the Word of God. While attending Christ Is the Answer, Mother Carol encouraged him to stay rooted in Scripture. During his years working as a custodian at Harbor General Hospital in Torrance, California, he often used his breaks to study his Bible and write scripture cards. One day, a young woman opened the janitor’s closet door and asked what he was doing, and he replied, “Close that door — I am talking to the Lord.” That young woman was Freida Jackson, who would later become his wife.

William was baptized at Trinity Foursquare Church now known as Resurrection Life Center on May 17, 1981, publicly declaring the faith he had long carried in his heart. In the late 1980s, William and Freida began working together in community service and entrepreneurship. With Freida’s guidance and shared vision, they founded Jordan’s Disciples Community Service, a shelter dedicated to helping those in need, and later opened Jordan’s Day Care Center, providing care and support to children and families in their community.

William and Freida married on December 13, 1980. Together, they opened their home to foster children and, in time, chose to adopt and build a family grounded in love, prayer, and purpose. Their children are Jennifer Denise, Jasmine Marie, Kimberly Laverne, Jason William, and Ernest William.

William leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Freida Jordan; his daughters Dawn Smith (Michael), Diana Ivory, Jasmine Fuller (Tauris), Kimberly Jordan, and Jennifer Logan; his son Jason Jordan; his brothers and sisters Wister Davis, Vancouver, WA, James (Vera) Jordan, Arcadia, CA; Raymond (Janice) Jordan, Minneapolis, MN; Lucille (Bobby) Neal; Marita (Freddie) Motton, Vanessa Jordan all of Marion, IN, his grandchildren, and great grandchildren and his church family at Resurrection Life Center. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Christina Marie Cardona, and his son, Ernest William Jordan, his sisters, Cora Jordan, Lucy Ingram, and Maggie Kemp.

We thank God for the life of William Roy Jordan — a father, a husband, a brother, a Marine, and a man who walked his own road with faith and determination. His journey was not always easy, but he kept pressing forward, trusting the Lord every step of the way. His legacy lives on in the family he raised, the lessons he taught, the work he built, and the love he gave.
