Thomas Michael Wyrick was born on October 25, 1940 in Oakdale, Tennessee to Claude Thurman Wyrick and Leslie Goldston Wyrick. Tom grew up in Suffolk, Virginia and graduated from Suffolk High School in 1958. From August 1959 to June 1962, he served in the Army as a teletype operator and was stationed in Alaska. On January 7, 1963, he married his soul mate Ann Fulgham in Williamsburg, Virginia. They remained happily married until her passing on January 22, 2012.
Tom lived in Suffolk until 1976, and then moved to Wilmington, North Carolina. In 1986, he relocated to Diamond Bar, California where he had lived for the last 36 years. In 2005, Tom retired after 43 years from Purcell Industries. He was a passionate fan of classic Western films, history and music, and enjoyed reading, golfing, traveling, and supporting the Los Angeles Dodgers and Washington Redskins.
Tom is survived by his daughter, Susan Elizabeth Wyrick (Beth); son, Jeffrey Michael Wyrick, daughter-in-law Kimberly; sister, Helen Wyrick Karnath; and 5 grandchildren: Preston, Brandon, Eric, Emma, and Christopher.
A reception will be held on Monday, August 22, 2022 at White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 Philadelphia Street, Whittier, California from 5:00PM - 8:00PM.
He will be laid to rest next to Ann at a graveside service at 12:30pm on Friday, September 9, 2022 at the Somerton Friends Meeting Church at 3239 Quaker Dr. in Suffolk, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the Alzheimer's Association in his name in memory of Ann.
