Reyes Orozco - January 3, 1962 to October 31, 2023

Reyes Orozco, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on October 31, 2023, at the age of 61. Born in Los Angeles, CA, Reyes grew up in Norwalk and lived in the same house for most of his life. Around 15 years ago, he decided to move to Downey, seeking new experiences and opportunities.

Reyes was an extraordinary individual who faced life's challenges head-on. He was born with only one hand, but his disability never hindered him from pursuing his passions. What truly captivated Reyes's heart was the game of baseball. His love for the sport was unconditional and unparalleled. Reyes's dedication to baseball knew no bounds; he attended camps and even caught the attention of scouts with his exceptional skills.

At the tender age of 23, Reyes embraced fatherhood and welcomed a new chapter in his life. From that moment onwards, his children became the driving force behind every decision he made. Possessing a heart filled with boundless love, Reyes cherished his kids more than anything in the world.

In addition to being an amazing father, Reyes experienced the immense joy of becoming a grandparent nine and a half years ago when his grandson Justin entered his life. The bond they shared was truly magical – they were inseparable best friends who shared a deep passion for baseball. Reyes took on the role of mentor and guide as he taught Justin not only how to play the game but also how to cherish it with every ounce of love.

Reyes had various hobbies and interests that brought him immense joy throughout his life. Baseball remained an integral part of his being even outside of playing the game himself. On any given day, you could find him passionately rooting for his favorite teams like the Dodgers, Rams, and Lakers. However, above all, his devotion to his grandson surpassed everything else and brought him the greatest happiness.

Reyes leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his three children – Jennifer, Reyes, Renee; his ex-wife Sandra, whom he never stopped loving; his siblings – Vicky, Chito, Javiel, and Mando. But undoubtedly, the person who held an unbreakable place in Reyes's heart was his beloved grandson Justin.

Services to honor and celebrate Reyes' life will be held at White Emerson Mortuary on November 13, 2023. Visitation will take place from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a special event at 6:00 PM. A Mass will then be held on November 14 at St. John of God Church in Norwalk from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM.

Today, as we bid farewell to this extraordinary man who touched our lives deeply, let us remember him for the love he shared and the passion he had for baseball. Reyes Orozco's legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Rest in peace now, dear Reyes; your spirit will continue to inspire us all.
