Rebecca Simonds

Rebecca Becky Lu Simonds passed away on June 27, 2019 in La Habra, California at the age of 82. She was born on March 24, 1937 in Raymore, Missouri. Becky also grew up in Los Angeles, and Santa Rosa, California.

During her senior year of high school in Santa Rosa, she met the love of her life, Rex Simonds, at a local Baptist church. They were married on April 20, 1955, at the Church of the One Tree at the tender age of 17 (Becky) and 18 (Rex). They started their first year of marriage apart, while Rex was stationed in France. Eagerly starting life together when he returned, they didnt wait long before welcoming their first child, Tamra, and several years later, their second child, Donna. The next 25 years were spent living in eight different locations with Rexs Air Force career. In 1975, they welcomed their third child, Jeffrey. At the same time, Rex retired and began a career in the US Postal Service, and the family spent the next 40 years in Rancho Cordova, California.

Beckys greatest joy in life was being a faithful, committed wife to Rex and a mother to their children. She viewed life as an adventure, valuing the importance of enjoying life to the fullest. She loved to sing, serve in the church, complete jigsaw, crossword, and word search puzzles, collect jokes, play games, and square dance. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, and sewing. She served as Preschool Director at her church for many years. Using her secretarial and administrative skills, she worked for the Dept of the Navy, and later operated a childcare service from her home. However, out of all her lifes accomplishments, her greatest loves were spending time with her family and sharing the experiences of camping and traveling together. Among her favorite camping trips were the travels throughout Europe during the four years stationed in the Netherlands.

Becky is survived by her husband of 64 years, Rex; children, Tamra (Dave) Auda, Donna (Daniel) Ladner, and Jeffrey (Mandy) Simonds; grandchildren, Sarah (Zachary) Goodson, Ruthi (Ryan) Daugherty, Rebekah Auda, Deborah Auda, Jonathan Ladner, Krystal Ladner, Joshua Ladner, and David Ladner; and great-granddaughter, Hyland Goodson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10am on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at White Emerson Mortuary followed by a reception. A second Celebration of Life will be held at 11am on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Rancho Cordova followed by a reception.
