Raymond Borrego Espinosa

Raymond Borrego Espinosa, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend passed away on June 4, 2024, in Whittier, California. He was born on August 14, 1930, in Los Angeles, California, one of nine siblings, to his loving parents Santos & Louisa Espinosa.

Raymond led a fulfilling life marked by love, dedication, and service. His devotion to his family was evident in his marriage to Armida Myrna Barrio on February 5, 1955. Together they built a strong and lasting marriage that lasted over 69 years. Their union was seen as a source of inspiration for all who knew them.

A man of integrity and courage, Raymond enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1947 and served his country with honor until his honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force in 1951.

In his free time, Raymond found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a passion for working with his hands and took delight in watching USC football games with enthusiasm.

Raymond was a family man. There was nothing that made him happier than to be with his family. He deeply loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Throughout his life's journey, Raymond touched the hearts of many and created cherished memories with those around him. His impact was profound and enduring.

Raymond is survived by his wife; Armida Espinosa, his daughters; Susan (Mick) Allington; Lori (Chuck) Maher; and Karen Espinosa (Tony), his grandchildren; Jonathan Erica Megan, Whitney, and Madison, his great-grandchildren; Kendall, Kaiden, Zachary, Benjamin, Nash, Charlie, Alyssa and Addison, and his sister, Martha.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Gregory the Great Church in Whittier on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at 10:00 am, with a Rosary being said immediately prior to the Mass at 9:30 am. Interment will immediately follow the Mass at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Rosemead. Let us remember a life well-lived and a legacy that will forever be cherished. May he rest in peace knowing he was loved deeply and will be missed dearly.
