Mona Yvonne "Bonnie" Gallo

December 5, 1940 — November 24, 2018

Mona Y. (Hood) Gallo, a.k.a. Bonnie, was born December 5, 1940, in Los Angeles, California, to Mona and George Hood. She had one brother, Mike Hood. She passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the age of 77.

At Excelsior High School in Norwalk, California she met the love of her life, Thomas J. Gallo, and they were married on June 21, 1959. They made their home in La Mirada, California, where they raised their daughter and two sons, Wendy, Tommy and Marcus.

Bonnie was able to stay at home with her children as they grew up. Family always came first to her. She had eight grandchildren as well as one great grand-child, and she loved to spend time with them as much as she could. She also enjoyed hosting family holiday dinners where all the children and grandchildren could join.

When the children were grown, Bonnie owned and operated a candy store, The Jolly Lolly, in Long Beach, California. After the candy business, and semi-retired, she spent several years working in real estate and property management.

Some of her favorites where Frank Sinatra music, Norman Rockwell artwork, Tom Brady football and Judge Judy (watched just about every day). Bonnie was very involved in girls softball for many years and was known as the official scorekeeper. She enjoyed taking over 30 cruise vacations around the world. She had a love for Video Poker slot machines and a great day would be when she hit a Royal Flush. Her favorite food was anything sweet, as her favorite meal was always dessert. Bonnie also enjoyed spending time with her friends in La Mirada Landmark where she lived.

Those surviving Bonnie include her husband, Tom; daughter, Wendy (Gallo) Pierce; sons, Thomas and Marcus Gallo; brother, Mike Hood; eight grandkids, Trevor Pierce, Dillon Pierce, Tyler Pierce, Jessica Gallo, Rachel Gallo, Hanna Gallo, Max Gallo, and Jake Gallo; and her one great-grandchild, Hank Pierce.

In lieu of flowers, friends may, if they wish, donate in Bonnies memory to the PIH Health Foundation, 12401 Washington Blvd., Whittier, CA 90602-1006.
