Maria Hudgens

July 11, 1928 — February 14, 2022

Maria C. Hudgens
Born in Mazatlan Mexico in 1928 she was the last surviving of 8 children born to Juana and Rafael Estrada.
As a resident of Covina and Glendora California for over 60 years she is survived by her daughters, Mary, husband Norman and Poppy, Debbie and Dallas, Janet, husband Russ and
their children Nick, Alyssa and Chelsea and Sandra and her children Zane and Bly.
A woman of many occupations, primarily in the care and counseling of under privileged girls and developmentally disadvantaged adults in a group home setting where she excelled and was beloved by all in her charge.
She enjoyed traveling including trips to Paris, New York City, Oahu, Maui, Puerto Vallarta, Niagara Falls, Canada, and Las Vegas as well as many coastal vacations on both the east coast and California as she so loved being by the ocean. In all these trips she was accompanied by her daughters, who enjoyed being with her during these adventures.
Although confined to a wheelchair for 19 years she was never dismayed. She enjoyed music, going to church and the movies, dining out, singing, dancing, trips to the mall and the park. She loved being anywhere she could be out amongst people.
When at home in her gated community she would spend much time sitting in her front window watching birds at their feeder, while smiling and waving to all her neighbors. This was evidence of her true love of life every day.
