“Ginny”

 

Born to this life February 7, 1943 - Entered Eternal Life December 14, 2023. 

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, & master quilter. Ginny passed away peacefully at home in La Habra at the age of 80 years. Born in Alhambra to Connie Gay Nilson and Louis Ely Brittingham, Ginny was the middle child, with big sister Helen and younger brother, Dale who both proceeded her in death. Ginny attend Huntington Park High and graduated in 1960 and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Ginny’s strong mathematical skills came in handy during her 40 year career as a book keeper at Hi Grade Foods in Los Angeles. 

Ginny met Harry, the love of her life in 1981, and they married seven years later. They spent almost every day together and Harry was by her side when she passed into the arms of the Lord. 

Ginny remained active in her retirement and enjoyed her passion of quilting through teaching others and she treasured her sewing class in Orange County where she met many friends. She had talent and immeasurable patience for creating sought after masterpiece quilts. Her eye for matching fabrics, making yo-yos, embroidering intricate patterns, knitting, while never neglecting the details. She created a legacy with her hands that has been passed on to the younger generation of her family. 

Her joy for life, humor, love for Willie Nelson and indomitable spirits kept her pushing through the pain as she struggled at the end of her life. Ginny is survived by her loving husband Harry, her two daughters Cynthia Jensen and Shelly Kaihatu, son-in-law Walter, nieces, nephews, seventeen grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. And of course her kitty of many years Coco. 

Gravesite service will be held at Rose Hills Cemetery at 3 p.m. on December 30, 2023. A celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2024.
