It is with a heart full of memories and gratitude that we celebrate the life of Lonny Ray Hagemier, who passed away on September 20, 2025, in Whittier, California. Born on July 16, 1938, in Terre Haute, Indiana, Lonny lived a full and vibrant life enriched by family, friends, and a passion for community engagement.
Lonny's journey began at Whittier High School, where he first met the love of his life, Olivia "Libby" Hagemier. They built a life together rooted in love, laughter and mutual respect. Lonny and Libby were married for an incredible 66 years! Together, they shared countless joyful moments, from dancing the night away at the Elks Lodge, where they were members for over 45 years, to exploring the wonders of the world abroad, his absolute favorite being London. His spirited nature and generosity were evident to all who knew him, making him a cherished figure in the Whittier Elks community.
As a proud U.S. Army veteran, Lonny exhibited deep pride in serving his country. He successfully transitioned to a fulfilling career as a business owner in the machine shop industry, where his work and dedication made a lasting impact. His leadership extended beyond the workplace as he served as a Worshipful Master at the Masonic Lodge in Whittier, leaving a legacy of kindness, camaraderie, and service.
Lonny's passions extended beyond work and community service. He was an avid golfer with the Whittier Men's Golf Club and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, like hitting the open road in his beloved red Corvette when he was young man. Music filled his heart with a special fondness for Johnny Cash and country tunes that often resonated throughout family gatherings.
Above all, Lonny cherished time spent with his family. He adored his two children, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, regularly engaging in playful competition that filled his days with laughter and joy. His generous spirit and social nature made him a beloved figure within his family and his countless friends.
Lonny Ray Hagemier’s remarkable journey will be celebrated with a life commemorative event that showcases the warmth and joy he brought to everyone around him. A memorial service will take place at White Emerson Mortuary on October 17, 2025, at noon, followed by a reception at The Mission Square Restaurant at 1:30 p.m. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring Lonny’s vibrant life, sharing stories, and remembering the love and laughter he generously shared with all.
