Judie Peters

Judie Jackson Peters passed away peacefully on March 13, 2023, at the age of 80.  Born in Galena, Kansas on March 28, 1942, life eventually brought Judie to La Mirada California where she lived for 54 years.  

A proud citizen of the Cherokee Nation and fiercely independent, Judie has always been kind, generous, and especially sarcastically funny, even in her final days.  

After retiring from a long career with Bank of America, Judie enjoyed volunteering with the city, including serving on the senior council, as a community service commissioner, and did AARP tax preparation for seniors and low-income residents.  She frequently traveled with family, and particularly enjoyed going on cruises and spending time in Cambria.  Judie fondly remembered trips to the mid-west to reconnect with family and visiting her favorite places in her hometown.

Judie was preceded in death by her parents Lee and Eula Jackson, siblings Ronald Jackson, Donna “Sis” Shupping, Donald Gene Jackson, and Rodger Jackson.  

Judie is survived by three children with ex-husband Paul Peters: daughter Kimberly Segal, son-in-law Robert (Bobby); daughter Melissa (Missy) Carey and her family Lee and Dillon Shepard; son Gregory Peters, daughter-in-law Michelle, grandchildren Sequoia and Malina; and sister Twyla Joy Bruce.  Judie is also survived by her constant companions, her two beloved pups Quapaw and Baxter.
