Joseph Boyd McIlwaine IV, lovingly known as Joe, passed away on June 3, 2026, at the age of 62.

Joe was born on December 22, 1963, in San Bernardino, California. He built a life centered on family, hard work, and the people he loved most.

Throughout a career spanning more than 35 years, he worked as an engineer and most recently served as an Operating Engineer with Kaiser Permanente.

Joe's greatest pride and joy was his family. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Clara and a proud father to his sons, Logan and Conor. They were the center of his world. He cherished time spent with family and friends and created countless memories with those he loved.

Joe loved the outdoors and could often be found hunting, fishing, or enjoying time around cars. He was also a lifelong Raiders fan who remained loyal to his team through every season.

Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Janet Snarr; his father, Joseph Boyd McIlwaine III; and his stepfather, Robert Walker.

He is survived by his wife Clara; his sons, Logan and Conor; Bill Ford, who helped raise him as his own; his sister, Margaret Ford; his sister and brother-in-law, Melissa and Scott Jacobs; his brother and sister-in-law, Bennie and Michele Ford; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Saddleback Church Whittier, 15315 Leffingwell Road, Whittier, California 90604.

Joe will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
