Jose Efren Guerrero Garcia, age 69, passed peacefully in Long Beach, California, with family and friends by his side on January 30, 2026. Born on July 7, 1956, in San Jose del Rincon, Michoacán, Mexico, he had lived in California since his late teens. He arrived to be with family in Watsonville, California, where he lived and worked in agriculture.

He later moved to Los Angeles, where he met his wife, Elena, and they spent over three decades building a life together. He made his living working in painting, wood finishing, and interior home finishing, skills he took great pride in. In his free time, he enjoyed taking photos of his family, friends, the moon, and the stars.

He was known in his community as an advocate for his children and as a photographer, always capturing special moments of the people around him, especially within the special needs community he cared deeply about.

At home, he loved watching documentaries about aliens, astrology, and astronomy, rewatching old films, and talking to us about his younger years working and the many people he met. He often spoke about the dreams he had for us and the life he wanted for his children. He loved spending time with his family, taking us on trips to Santa Barbara and creating many special memories together at theme parks, some of his favorite places to be with us.

Efren is survived by his wife, Elena, and their three children.

We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the family, friends and all who mourn Efren’s departure. He will be greatly missed and remembered.

A memorial service celebrating Efren’s beautiful life will be held on February 11, 2026, at the White Emerson Mortuary at 11AM in Whittier, CA. We invite all who knew and loved Efren to join us in honoring his memory.
