Jesse Felipe Sanchez passed away on March 26, 2020 at his home in Hacienda Heights, surrounded by his loving family. Born February 5, 1931 in Whittier, Jesse was born to Toribio and Catalina (Gutierrez) Sanchez. Jesse grew up in Whittier and would later graduate from Whittier High School. After High School he joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country for 20 years as an adjutant, obtaining the rank of Master Sergeant, and was stationed in Alaska, Florida, Spain and Guatemala. Upon his retirement from the United States Air Force, Jesse went into business for himself in the fasteners sales business. He moved not far from his hometown to Hacienda Heights where he was a resident for the past 42 years.
Jesse married the love of his life, Mary (Canales) Sanchez on September 11, 1971 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together with Mary, they were the proud parents of four children, Serene, Phillip, Arika & Stacey. Jesse had many interests and hobbies in life. Among his favorite activities was cooking for his family; he was a true master of the grill. It should also be mentioned that during his time in the service, Jesse was a champion bowler. When he wanted to be outside, he enjoyed working in the yard, and when it was time to get away, he was always taking a trip to the casinos. He was a huge fan of Dodger baseball, and would also root on the Los Altos High School football team. When it came to his love for music, he enjoyed listening to Louis Prima, Ray Charles and Javier Solis. And of course, Jesses favorite movie of all time was The Wizard of Oz his heart & soul were always encouraged by Dorothys sentiment that, Theres no place like home.
Jesse is survived by his wife, Mary Sanchez; his children, Serene Pricer, Phillip Sanchez, Arika Burchell, & Stacey Devening; his 12 grandchildren, Taylin Seitz (Reinholtz), Trent Reinholtz, Phillip Sanchez, Mateo Sanchez, Isaak Sanchez, Eneli Sanchez, Ayden Burchell, Mikaela Burchell, Jake Burchell, Abrianna Burchell, Alanna Devening, Liam Devening; and his four siblings, Felicia Villapando (Sanchez), Tina Melendez (Sanchez), John Sanchez and Becky Sanchez.
A private interment for Jesse will take place at Riverside National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life service will take place at a later date.
