In Loving Memory of Htay Aung

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Htay Aung, who peacefully passed away on July 1, 2026, at the age of 84.

Htay Aung was born in Thanlyin, Myanmar. He was the fifth of eight children, and he had three older brothers and four sisters. He was the last surviving sibling and always treasured the memories of his brothers and sisters.

In his younger years, Htay Aung proudly served in the Burmese military. He later devoted more than 50 years of his life to his passion as an artist and writer. Through his drawings and writings, he expressed his creativity, patience, and love for his culture.

In 2006, he and his beloved wife, Tin Tin Win, moved to the United States to be closer to their children and to keep the family together. Family was always the center of his life. He enjoyed the simple things being at home, and spending time with those he loved.

He was a devoted husband, a loving father to his sons, Zaw Win Aung and Zaw Min Aung, and his daughter, Hnin Nanda Aung. He was also a caring father-in-law to Nay Nay Kyin and Thant Zin Oo. Above all, he was a proud and loving grandfather to his two granddaughters, Hazell Oo and Hailey Oo. They brought him endless joy, and one of his favorite daily routines was driving them to daycare when they were little. Those precious memories will forever remain in our hearts.

Our family sincerely thanks everyone for the love, prayers, support, and kindness shown during this difficult time. Your compassion has brought us comfort and strength.

Though he is no longer with us, his love, wisdom, and gentle spirit will remain in our hearts forever.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, followed by cremation. A family sea scattering memorial service will take place on Monday, July 20, 2026, honoring his wishes and celebrating his life.

May he rest in eternal peace.
