Enriqueta (AKA "Queta") Landaverde, passed away on September 12, 2023, in Whittier, California. Born on May 7, 1936, in Mexico, Enriqueta embarked on an extraordinary journey that exemplified resilience and achievement.
Queta spent her formative years in Mexico, but at the young age of 19, she ventured to the United States all by herself, driven by a desire for a better life. Her strong work ethic led her to become a seamstress, and over time she opened her own store. Not content with just that, Enriqueta expanded her horizons by investing in real estate while still finding time to work at swap meets and involve her family in the business. Her entrepreneurial spirit was an inspiration to many.
Although Enriqueta's formal education concluded with a high school diploma, her life experience provided her with knowledge that surpassed any piece of paper. She possessed wisdom and insight earned through the challenges she faced and overcame.
Enriqueta will forever be remembered for the love and care she showered upon those around her. She was always helpful, welcoming, compassionate, kind-hearted — truly the best grandmother one could ask for. As a firecracker with spunk and determination, Enriqueta had a directness about her that was refreshing. Her honesty was always appreciated and admired.
Cooking brought Enriqueta immense joy, especially when it involved preparing meals for her beloved family. Her culinary skills were unrivaled, as she delighted everyone with delicious homemade dishes. In addition to creating culinary wonders in the kitchen, she had an adventurous spirit that took her to various corners of the globe. Enriqueta explored countries like Japan, Russia, Italy, France, Belgium, Norway, the Bahamas, Germany, as well as multiple parts of Mexico. Traveling enriched her life and broadened her perspective.
Enriqueta's proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly her journey to the United States at the age of twenty and subsequently establishing her own successful business. This monumental achievement paved the way for a better future, not only for herself but also for her beloved family.
Enriqueta is survived by three children, seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Her love and influence will be cherished by each generation she touched. She leaves behind a legacy that is measured not only in the number of descendants she had but also in the values and strength she instilled in them.
To honor Enriqueta's life, viewing services will be held on September 27, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at White Emerson Mortuary in Whittier. On September 28, 2023, funeral services will take place at the same location starting at 11:00 AM. Following this service, a graveside service will be held at Turner & Stevens Live Oak Mortuary & Memorial Park in Monrovia at 2:00 PM.
