Beverly Jean Lundgren, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away on March 7, 2024, in Long Beach, California, at the age of 81. She was born on February 16, 1943, in Winchester, Connecticut, to Jarl Bertil Sigurd Dahlin and Catherine May Starr.
Beverly's early years were marked by a journey across states, from Secret Lake, Connecticut, where she spent her young childhood, to Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and finally settling in Downey, California, at the age of 13. She attended Warren High School, graduating in 1961, where she was an A student and formed lifelong friendships and cherished memories.
On February 19, 1966, Beverly married the love of her life, James Warner Lundgren, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their love story began in their early teens, blossoming over a decade before they exchanged vows. Together, they shared a bond built on love and mutual respect. Jim went off to work, and Bev raised the children, and took care of the home.
Beverly dedicated her life to her family, embracing the role of a devoted stay-at-home mother to her three children, Kirsten, Lance and Matthew. She created a warm and nurturing home, where the aroma of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies greeted her children after school on rainy days. Known for her unwavering support and willingness to lend a helping hand, Beverly was the cornerstone of her family.
She was a woman of many qualities – capable, stoic, smart, quick-witted, and shy, yet remarkably well-spoken. Beverly took pride in her appearance, always impeccably dressed with her nails painted and hair perfectly styled. Her grace and elegance were matched only by her inner strength and determination.
Beverly's legacy lives on through her devoted husband, James Warner Lundgren, her loving children, Kirsten Starr Hill and her husband Doug Hill, Lance Warner Lundgren and his wife Kathy Lundgren, her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Susan Reed and her husband James Reed, numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Matthew Jarl Lundgren and her parents.
In the hearts of those who knew her, Beverly leaves an indelible mark of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A memorial service to celebrate Beverly's life will be held on April 6, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 Philadelphia Street, Whittier, CA 90601.
