Ana María Ortega, 87 years of age, passed away June 17, 2023

Ana María, also known as Anita, was born November 7,1935 in Jalpa, Zacatecas, México. She was raised by her parents Salvador and María Refugio Gómez. Anita experienced a wonderful childhood with her sisters Bertha, Martha,Tere, Licha and brothers Lencho, Alfredo and Chava.

Anita married Ramón Ortega on September 26,1956. They were married 53 years. Ramón passed away in 2009. Shortly after their marriage, Anita and Ramón moved to the United States where they raised their beautiful family. They raised nine children: Ramón, Dora Alicia, Sandra, Yolanda, Norma, Anabel, Veronica, Artemio, and Marc. Anita was blessed with 19 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and loving daughter in-laws, and son in-laws. 

Anita was also loved by many other close friends and relatives who referred to her as Mom. Anita loved spending time with her family, attending church, sightseeing and gardening. Anita was not only the matriarch of the Ortega Family, she was also the matriarch of her neighborhood.
