PERSONALIZATION
Many things can be done to make the service of your loved one more personal and more meaningful to those in attendance. Several of those otpions can be found below, but any ideas of your own may be even more special and unique to your loved one. Don't feel limited by perceived "society norms". If it is meaningful to you, it is appropriate.
Sharing Memories
Displaying photographs and pesonal effects can really help share the memories of your loved one. Video tributes are also a great way to enhance the service. A projector is available for presenting your tribute, and White-Emerson can assist you in creating the tribute if you wish.
As an ongoing tribute, an online tribute can be created, including photos on the White-Emerson website. Others can sign an online guestbook and even leave a tribute of their own.
Special Music
Music can add a great deal to the service and also give time for reflection. Songs may be played electronically, or live musicians can perform them. At your request, White-Emerson can arrnage for a pianist, vocalist, harpist, bagpiper, or mariachis. Once again, the type of music and songs selected is entirely up to you.
Miltary and Fraternal Tributes
All veterans are entitled to a Military Honors presentation. This includes the folding and presentation of the U.S. Flag and playing of Taps by reprsentatives of the respective branch of the U.S. Military. Though most common at the cemetery, Military Honors may take pace at virtually in location the family requests. White-Emerson will assist in arranging for the honors and in coordinating the details. A copy of the miliary discharge papers of the veteran is required.
In addition to the formal Military Honors described above, White-Emerson can also arrange to have a local VFW or American Legion Post provide a gun salute. A donation to the post to help defray their expenese is customary.
Other fraternal or service organizations may also be invovled at the service.
Product Personalization
Understanding the comfort provided through personalization, White-Emerson offers a number of memorial products that can be personalized. Both caskets and urns can be personalized to display the hobbies or interests of your loved one, or even their name and photograph. Memorial stationary can also be personalized with photographs of your loved one.
Other products are also available as lasting tributes. These include memorial markers of granite or bronze, remembrance jewelry, and other remembrance keepsakes.
Saying Goodbye
The release of white doves or balloons can leave a lasting impression.
Reception Services
A gathering following a serivce often provides an excellent opportunity for sharing memories and for feeling the love and support among family and friends. White-Emerson has a reception room available that will accommodate approximately 60 guests, for those who would like that convenience. Regardless of the venue, a list of local caterers is avavilable a the mortuary.
