Gloria Igna Sarmiento

Gloria Igna Sarmiento was born March 11, 1939, in San Jose, Philippines, to Jose and Maria (Pahate) Igna. She passed away on December 1, 2019, in La Mirada, California, at the age of 80.

Gloria grew up and attended school in the Philippines. On January 17, 1961, she married the love of her life, Wilfredo Sarmiento. In 1976 they immigrated to the US and settled in La Mirada, California, where they raised their four daughters.

A wonderful pianist in her own right, Gloria spent many years teaching others how to play. She was a devout Christian and was a member of the Wesleyan Church. Gardening, shopping, and eating were among her favorite hobbies, but most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Gloria loved her family dearly, and they loved her!

She is survived by her children, Miraflor Sarmiento, Ethel Tran, Ireene Barron, and Debbie Sarmiento; grandchildren, Nicholas and Makayla Barron; and sisters, Aurora Magpantay and Pacita Tan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfredo.

A viewing will take place from 5-8pm on Thursday, December 12, 2019, at White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 Philadelphia St., Whittier, California. A funeral service will be held at 11am the next morning, Friday, December 13, 2019, also at White Emerson Mortuary. Interment will follow at Olive Lawn Memorial Park in La Mirada, California, where she will be laid to rest with her beloved Wilfredo.
