Delma was born to Arthur Clyde and Willie Belle Baker on October 5, 1920 in Tunica Mississippi. She lost her mother at an early age and was raised by her grandmother, Mary Baker. She started her education at Rolling Wall School in Tunica and completed the 12th grade at Rust College in Holly Springs, Miss. She furthered her education in Clarksdale, Miss and became a primary school teacher. She taught in Hollywood, Miss. for 4 years.

She met Daniel Alexander, who was the love of her life. They married on December 20, 1947 and Daniel became the father to her 1 year old son Arthur C. Baker. To this union four children were born, Olivia, Dorothy, Mary, and Larry. During the marriage Delma pursued additional education and worked as a nursing attendant at Tunica Hospital.

The family relocated to Los Angeles, California in December 1956. Delma continued to work as a nursing attendant at various hospitals from the Los Angeles Nursing Registry. She worked at French Hospital and was later hired at City View Hospital, where she remained until she retired in 1977.

She accepted Christ as her Lord and personal savior at 16 years of age and became a member of Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church in Hollywood, Miss. Upon relocation to Los Angeles, Calif. She joined Providence Missionary Baptist Church in 1957. She served the Lord to the best of her ability working in the church on the First Aid Board and was the coordinator of the missionary programs on a monthly basis.

Delma loved spending time with her family, listening to music, watching her beloved Lakers, watching soap operas, playing solitary, traveling, going to the concerts, and attending church socials. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
